Is parallels desktop free9/19/2023 ![]() To check your eligiblity, purchase and download the software, please follow the steps below: Important: Flatten all Linux partitions and create a Windows partition.If you are a student, you maybe eligible for a free or discounted Windows 10 Education for Students and Parallels Desktop 11 license offered by OnTheHub. After the usual installation and setup process, Windows 10 runs on Parallels Desktop Lite - for free! Don't forget to take the installation ISO out of the virtual drive.You can then create and format them again. Important: When selecting the target drive, you must delete all (!) partitions until there is only one large "unallocated" partition. You can now click through the Windows installation as usual.Done: You can now restart your Linux virtual machine.Place the CD/DVD (your virtual DVD drive with the Windows ISO) on top and deselect the “Network” and “External device” items. ![]() Now select the "Boot sequence" entry: CD/DVD, network, external device and hard disk 1 should appear here.Check the same list to see if a "CD/DVD1" already appears here.Now enlarge the virtual hard disk to 1 gigabytes under "Hardware -> Hard disk 32" or another value that suits you.Shut down the Linux virtual machine and open the settings by clicking on the gear icon in the list of virtual machines on the right.without completely shutting down the VM – work. This is great and, above all, much easier than with VirtualBox, which means that Parallels Desktop Lite has a right to exist on the Mac. And that works wonderfully, too, because Parallels Desktop Lite searches for ISO files on the Mac if desired. As with the regular Parallels version, other Linux versions can be installed using an ISO file or boot stick. Some Linux versions can be installed with one click.įive Linux distributions are preset: Chromium, Ubuntu, Fedora, CentOS and Debian. And that works amazingly well and largely free of restrictions with the program. And is therefore ideal for all users who do NOT want to virtualize Windows, but other operating systems. So Parallels Desktop Lite has been stripped of its most important function, but otherwise it can do everything that Parallels normally can. more on that in a moment :) Don't say free is cheap: Parallels Desktop Lite does everything but Windows! Hard neutered Parallels for nerds? Not at all. Basically not a bargain - especially since the Windows license comes on top of that, but only once. That is though cheaper than the 79 euros for the regular full version that is published every year – but the bottom line is that it is more expensive because you can also use old Parallels versions until they no longer run on the latest MacOS version. Linux and MacOS can be easily installed in Parallels Desktop Lite. Parallels wants to see 64,99 euros for allowing you to run Windows. Parallels Desktop free with "small" limitationsįirst of all, what Parallels Desktop Lite does without costing a penny is amazing: it basically is except for a few minor restrictions the "normal" full version of Parallels! However, there is a small but subtle difference: Windows is not possible - as long as you do not pay.
